Sunday Services at Weathersfield Center Church

General NewsThe Perkinsville Community Church will not be holding services in Perkinsville during the summer months, as we will be joining with the Weathersfield Center Church for Sunday morning services at 10 a.m. We'll be back with regular services starting at 10 am on September 12 (the Sunday after Labor Day).
Will Hunter will be preaching for 6 of the 12 Sundays we will be at the Center, and a variety of others will lead services the other weeks.
On Sunday, July 4, Edith Hunter will talk about Thomas Jefferson's Bible. The nation's third President believed that the ethical system of Jesus was the finest the world had ever seen. In compiling what has come to be called "The Jefferson Bible," he sought to separate those ethical teachings from the religious dogma and other supernatural elements that are intermixed in the account provided by the four Gospels. He presented these teachings, along with the essential events of the life of Jesus, in one continuous narrative.
Other Sunday services this summer will be conducted by the Rev. Connie Moser (August 1), the Rev. William Nelson (August 8), and a musical quartet led by Susan Hunter and Hallie Whitcomb (September 5).
A social hour follows each service in the downstairs meeting room.

Letter from the School Board

General NewsLetter from the School Board

Written by The School Board
To the Weathersfield School Students, Parents and Community Members,

It is with tremendous sadness that we must relay the news of Principal Mario Bevacqua's passing late last evening Saturday, June 5th.

As many of you know, Mario has battled a number of health challenges over the last 18 months. The love of his family and friends and his passion for the children and staff of Weathersfield were most assuredly the motivation and encouragement that supported him through each difficult day of his failing health.

To celebrate his life a memorial service is being planned by his family which is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 12th at 2pm at the Weathersfield School Gymnasium. We ask you to access the Weathersfield website for more concrete information regarding the service. During the coming days, please know that Weathersfield School will have additional counselors available if needed to assist staff and students during the grieving process.

It is so very important for all of us to keep alive Mario's spirit and "quiet passion" for educating our children over the last 20 years. He truly believed in the potential of each and every student to succeed. To honor his memory the Weathersfield School Board has established a Mario Bevacqua Memorial Scholarship Fund for a graduating Weathersfield senior. Additional information on this scholarship will be posted in the near future on the school's website at www.weathersfieldschools.org

Should you have any questions please feel free to call Donna Moyer, interim superintendent, at 674-2144.

Sincerely,

The Weathersfield School Board
Kelly Murphy, Chair
Gloria Ballantine, Vice-Chair
Steve Walasewicz, Clerk
